100 Instagram Captions for Etsy Sellers
Your captions aren’t marketing. They’re directions.
Here’s what happens to most of your Instagram posts. She sees it at 11pm, thinks “that is perfect for Kate”, and does nothing about it, because there’s no link on a normal post and the caption called it “this little guy”. By the time Kate’s birthday comes around in March, she can’t find your Etsy business because she forgot to save your post and doesn’t know the name of your product.
That gap between admiring something and finding it again is where nearly all your lost sales live. It isn’t a photography problem or a pricing problem. It’s a navigation problem, and the caption is the only place to fix it.
Below are 100 captions you should be posting.
(Take them. Put your listing title in.)
How to Write an Etsy Caption
A process Reel and a finished product pic want opposite captions. The video is already charming her, so your caption should be doing the selling. The pic isn’t making anyone save your post on its own, so its caption job to supply the reason.
Try this:
The findable-name test. Somewhere in every product caption, use the exact words from your listing title. Not “this one” or “my favorite little design”. The actual searchable name. People screenshot things and come back weeks later, and what they type into the Etsy search bar is whatever they can half-remember. Give them something to remember. “Personalized dog keyring for dad this father’s day” is ugly and forgettable.
Do this instead: Pets are family too. This sterling silver dog dad keyring can be hand stamped with up to 4 names! It’s listed as ‘Personalized Dog Dad Keyring’, which is what to type into the search bar when you need this in June 😉 Save this post for later.
The review line. You have written reviews sitting in your shop that you never use. A buyer’s own words about your work beat anything you can write about it yourself, by a mile. Screenshot one, quote one, build a post around one. “Arrived faster than I expected and the packaging made me cry” does more than 6 lines about your process.
One more, and it’s the question that kills the most orders. Say the dispatch time. Ready to post today, or made to order in 5 days, or 2 weeks because you have 40 in the queue. Every buyer wants to know and almost nobody ever asks.
Cottagecore Etsy Captions
- Everything in this shop was cut out on the same 1970s table.
- 6 of these, and the linen came from a mill 20 miles away.
- Dried the flowers myself in August for exactly this.
- Wonky edges included, because one pair of hands made every one.
- Posted from the village box, wrapped in brown paper and string.
- Somebody bought 3 for her mother, her sister and herself.
- 4 hours each. There are 6. Do the sums on my hourly rate.
- The pattern came from a book my grandmother had.
- Radio 4 the whole time I was stitching these. You can’t tell, but I can.
- 11 in this batch. That’s all there’ll be until spring.
Plant Etsy Captions
- Designed the week I ran out of windowsill and bought 3 more anyway.
- A customer sent a photo of it holding a monstera. Perfect home.
- Terracotta, jute and absolutely nothing plastic.
- Designed after I killed my 4th fern and got annoyed about it.
- Drainage holes in every one. I checked all 30.
- A customer ordered 5 and told me her flat is 60% plants now.
- Sized for a nursery pot, not for a photograph.
- Somebody ordered 6 for a plant swap. Best order of the month.
- Macramé that will hold an actual heavy pot, not a decorative one.
- 3 sizes, and the middle one sells 4 to 1 over the others.
Coffee Etsy Captions
- Thrown between 6am and 9am, which is my only quiet stretch.
- 14 mugs in this batch, all thrown by hand, all slightly different.
- Hand wash only. Do that and it’ll outlast the kitchen it’s in.
- A customer said it’s ruined all her other mugs. Sorry, not sorry.
- Holds 400ml, which is a proper cup rather than a polite one.
- A customer weighs her beans to the gram and bought 2 of these.
- The handle took 9 attempts to get right for a big hand.
- Somebody bought 2 so they’d never both be in the dishwasher.
- Fired twice and glazed by hand. 3 weeks from clay to post.
- Sold 40 of these in December. Nobody needed any of them.
Cute Etsy Captions
- Silly little thing. Took 3 weeks of drawing to get right.
- 200 stickers cut this morning, all by hand, all slightly crooked.
- A customer put one on her laptop and 4 colleagues asked about it.
- Made to fix a bad Tuesday for somebody who needs one.
- Enamel pin, 25mm, and the backing card is recycled.
- Bought most often as an “I saw this and thought of you” present.
- Nothing useful about this whatsoever. That’s rather the appeal.
- Sold out twice. This is the 3rd run and the last one for a while.
- A teacher ordered 30 for her class. That made my week.
- Fits in a card, so postage is 1st class and cheap.
Baby Etsy Captions
- Washable at 40 and it comes out softer each time. Tested on my own.
- No scratchy labels anywhere. That was the entire design brief.
- I size these up. Everybody complains about the opposite problem.
- A grandmother ordered 4 before the baby had even arrived.
- Designed at 4am while feeding my second. Genuinely.
- Survived 60 washes on a test one before I listed it.
- 4 people at the same baby shower brought vests. She brought this.
- 100% cotton, and I’ll tell you where it came from if you ask.
- Somebody kept hers for 19 years and sent me a photo of it.
- I check every seam twice. It’s why there are only ever 11.
Personalized Etsy Captions
- I read every name back to myself twice before the machine starts.
- Send the photo. I’ll turn it into this by Thursday.
- A mock-up lands in your inbox before I touch anything permanent.
- Last month: 2 coordinates, 1 wedding date and a very rude in-joke.
- A customer sent her late father’s handwriting. I still think about it.
- 40 characters is the limit and I’ll tell you if yours won’t fit.
- I say yes to most odd requests. Ask before assuming I won’t.
- Somebody sent a photo of a very specific tractor. It worked.
- 1 of 1, every time, which is why it takes 5 days.
- Somebody’s awkward request last week turned into my best seller.
Behind the Scenes Etsy Captions
- Sunday afternoon, 40 parcels, 1 roll of tape, no floor visible.
- 20 minutes queuing at the counter, 4 times a week, forever.
- 3 batches failed this week. That’s normal and nobody posts it.
- Ordering packaging in bulk and wondering where it will live.
- There is cat hair somewhere in this workshop. I do my best.
- Year total so far: 906. All by these 2 hands.
- Photographing on the kitchen floor because that’s where the light is.
- Rewriting a listing title for the 4th time to get it findable.
- The kitchen table becomes the packing table at 6 every evening.
- Etsy fees, postage, materials. The bit nobody photographs.
Restock Etsy Captions
- 20 back in stock, and 6 of them went overnight.
- The last batch went in 4 days. This one is the same size.
- New listing live at 7 tonight. 12 available.
- 30 of you asked about this. It is back as of this morning.
- 3 remaining and then this design is retired permanently.
- Preorder open until Friday, posting the week after.
- 60 people on the restock list. 40 in the batch. Sorry in advance.
- Available until Sunday night. After that it goes back in the drawer.
- What’s listed is what exists. There is no back room here.
- Made 30 for Christmas. That’s the lot until January.
Review Etsy Captions
- “Arrived faster than I expected and the packaging made me cry.”
- 400 reviews and this one is still my favorite.

- A buyer left a review saying she’d ordered again the same week.
- Somebody described it as “worth every penny”, which I’ve had framed mentally.
- 5 stars from a woman who bought it as a gift and kept it.
- She sent a photo of it in her hallway. Better than any of my staging.
- “I’d have paid more.” I’m not going to. But thank you.
- 3 people this month said the note in the parcel was the best bit.
Funny Etsy Captions
- There is no team. There is me and a laminator.
- Absolutely no practical purpose. 200 people bought one anyway.
- If you message the shop, I’m the one who reads it.
- I write the notes myself. My handwriting is genuinely awful.
- Gift wrapping is free and I’ve had a great deal of practice.
- Most orders arrive between 10pm and 1am. I see you.
- 906 reviews, 1 kitchen, 0 employees.
- Cheaper than the therapy it replaces. Marginally.
- Justify it afterward. That’s what everybody else does.
- I own 14 rolls of tape. That is not a normal amount.
Your shop name is what she’ll try to remember in March. Your slogan told her a person made this. Your Instagram caption is the bit that decides whether she can ever find it again, which is the least romantic and most valuable job on your socials.
