200 Photography Business Name Ideas Worth Putting on a Watermark
Your name sits in the corner of every photo you’ll ever deliver. Small, half transparent, on somebody’s fridge for the next fifteen years.
So it isn’t a logo problem. It’s a legibility problem and a memory problem at the same time.
Here are 200, sorted by the kind of photographer you are.
(Take the one you’d sign a print with.)
How to Choose a Photography Business Name
Three tests. Run your shortlist through all of them.
The watermark test. Your name goes in the corner of an image at about 200 pixels wide, over a busy background, at half opacity. Long names disappear at that size and so do fussy ones. Type each option out small before you fall in love with it.
The specialty test. Clients don’t search for photographers. They search for newborn, or branding, or weddings, because that’s the thing they need this month. Either say what you shoot or keep the name wide enough to hold the next three things you add.
The reluctant subject test. Most people hate being photographed and say so in the first email. A name that sounds like a gallery opening can frighten off the exact client who needs you most. Read yours and ask whether a nervous person would book it.
Now go and pick one.
If you plan on having a website or blog, first check your name is available.

Your name is the first thing a client forms an opinion on, before they’ve seen a single photo. Your slogan is the promise you attach to it. Your captions are where you prove both, one session at a time. Pick the name first. The other two get easier.
