Your slogan isn’t a description of the scent. It’s the entire nose of your business, because nobody has ever smelled anything through a phone.
That’s the whole problem with selling candles online. Your customer is looking at a photograph of a jar, on a screen, next to four hundred other photographs of jars. Every one of them hand-poured, small batch and described as cozy.
She can’t smell a single one. She’s choosing on words alone, which makes yours the most valuable thing on the listing.

How to Choose a Candle Slogan
The question every candle slogan has to answer is what her house will feel like at nine o’clock tonight. Not what’s in the wax. Not how long it burns. What the evening turns into once she’s lit it.
Most candle slogans answer a different question entirely, usually one about your pouring process, which is interesting to you and to nobody else.
Choose a slogan based on these… and the first one is brutally practical.
The label test. Count the words. Your slogan gets printed at the size of a stamp, on a curved lid, read upside down on a market table in November light. Six words is the ceiling and four is better. “Where every wick tells a story of comfort” is nine words that vanish at 8pt. “Sunday, in a jar” survives anywhere, including a phone screen at arm’s length.
The gift test. Most candles are bought for somebody else. So read your shortlist as the woman standing in front of forty near-identical jars, needing to feel she’s chosen well rather than settled for the obvious present. A line that describes the evening the recipient gets, will help her decide. A line about small-batch hand-pouring does not, because every jar on that shelf says it.
Two smaller things. Don’t reuse a word that’s already in your business name, because you’ve said it and it’s spent. AND check it’s true of your whole range, not just your bestseller, or you’ll be rewriting it the day you launch the summer scents.
