200+ Catchy Bakery Slogans and Taglines
Your slogan isn’t a claim that your cakes are delicious. Every bakery on earth says delicious. So does the petrol station.
Your customer walked past a supermarket to reach you, and that supermarket sells a loaf for a pound. She knows yours is four fifty. She is doing the sum in her head on the pavement outside, and she does it every single week.
So the words in your window have to answer the sum. Not with adjectives. With the hour it came out of the oven, the person who got up to make it, and the fact that it will be stale on Thursday because nothing was added to stop that.
Below are 208 slogans, sorted by what you actually bake.
(Take a tray. Fill it.)
How to Choose a Bakery Slogan
The question every bakery slogan has to answer is whether you’re worth the walk and the difference in price. Not whether it’s tasty. She assumes it’s tasty. She wants a reason to keep choosing you on the mornings she’s running late.
Two tests.
The 4am test. Everything true about your bakery that a supermarket cannot say involves time. Started at three. Out of the oven at seven. Sold out by two. Proved for thirty-six hours. Stale on Thursday. Supermarket bread was frozen in another country, finished in a warm cupboard and will look identical on Friday. Write the line only somebody who got up in the dark could honestly write, and you have written something no chain can copy.
The chalkboard test. Your slogan gets said out loud by a sixteen-year-old on the till, and written in chalk by somebody with a wonky hand and no ruler. Read it in that voice. If it needs a fancy font to land, or if the pun only works written down, it dies on the board and it dies on the phone.
Two smaller things. Don’t reuse a word that’s already in your bakery’s name, because you’ve said it and it’s spent. And check it holds in January, when nobody’s celebrating anything and you’re selling toast, not just in the run-up to Christmas.
