The Done-For-You Digital Product You Can Start Selling TODAY
The easiest thing to sell online isn’t a product you made. It’s a product somebody else made, and you just bought the legal right to sell it.
Sounds too good to be true right? Well, sometimes it is.
That’s why I’ve bought so many of them over the last 4 years. I wanted to find out which of these popular done-for-you digital products and courses were worth the money I paid for or if they were straight up garbage. I never recommend a side hustle I haven’t tried myself.
You hear people saying “You can make money in your sleep” in this space a lot. Well technically they’re not wrong. I know because I do. It may be quicker than creating your own digital product, but it’s still not easy. You still need to sell it.
I’ve found that many online DFY products don’t come with marketing materials. Thankfully I have experience there so don’t need them, but what if you don’t?
There’s nothing worse than buying a PLR product and being expected to create your own marketing.
That’s the hardest part!
In this post I’m going to share a digital product I made that DOES come with marketing materials, but first let’s talk about some do’s and don’ts of selling DFY digital products.

What is the difference between MRR, PLR & Resell Rights?
Resell rights let you sell the product, but usually as-is, with the creator’s name still on it. You cannot pass those on the resale rights. Your customers cannot buy it from you to sell themselves.
Picture a cash and carry. You buy a box of 24 mugs at trade price, take them to your market stall on Saturday, and sell them at £8 each. That is resell rights. You can sell the mugs. You cannot sell the trade card.
Master Resell Rights (MRR) allows you to sell a product and also pass those resale rights on to your customers, meaning they can resell the product as well. While this can sound appealing, MRR has a bad rep due to poor-quality MRR content and is often difficult to sell, even when resale rights are included.
It’s also important to be cautious about where you purchase MRR products. For example, this creator on Reddit highlighted concerns about stolen copyrighted content being circulated through marketplaces such as Etsy. Before purchasing any MRR product, take the time to verify that the seller has the legal right to distribute it.
If you unknowingly or knowingly sell stolen MRR/PLR products, you could face serious consequences, including copyright infringement claims, takedown notices, loss of marketplace accounts, refund demands, and in some cases legal action from the original copyright owner. Taking a few extra steps to verify the source of an MRR product can help protect both your business and your reputation.
Master resell rights is the cash and carry handing you spare trade cards. You still sell mugs to shoppers, and you can also sell a trade card to the woman on the next stall, who sells the same mugs, and hands out trade cards of her own.
Which is precisely why, 6 months later, every stall on that market is selling the same bleeding mug!
Private Label Rights (PLR) means you buy a product once, and the license that comes with it lets you sell that product as your own, keeping every bit of the sale. You put your own name on it, change it, rebrand it, chop it up, or bundle it with something else.
You buy the file, the license transfers the selling rights to you, and from that point the customer buys from you, pays you, and lands on your list rather than anybody else’s.
PLR is buying the mold. Same mug if you want, but you can change the shape, glaze it a different color, put your own name on the bottom, and sell it as yours to whoever you like.

No, These Aren’t an MLM
Let’s get that out of the way, because somebody always asks me.
There is no downline. You don’t recruit anybody, and there’s no monthly minimum to stay “active”. You buy a product, you sell that product to customers, and that is the entire structure. It’s the same model as a shop buying wholesale, except the stock is a PDF or a course and it never runs out.
But. And here I am again with more buts.
Every DFY product has a different license, and it is up to you need to do your own research.
Some say you must not alter the product at all. Sell it exactly as it arrives, no edits, no new cover.
Others say the opposite: you must significantly alter it before selling, which usually means rewriting a good chunk and redesigning it properly.
Some restrict where you can sell it. No Etsy, no Amazon, no giving it away free.
READ THE LICENSE BEFORE YOU BUY. Then read it again before you list. It’s best to be safe rather than deal with the fallout later.
The Bit Nobody Wants to Hear
There is real money in this. Genuinely, for the right person.
And for every one person who buys a done-for-you digital product with genuine intent to make a successful business out of it, there are 9 others who buy at 9pm, upload it at 9:20, post “BUY THIS NOW” with a link, and then sit back and expect their phone to light up with notifications from PayPal.
When it doesn’t work like that they decide the product was rubbish, or the creator scammed them, or PLR doesn’t work and start kicking and screaming in YouTube videos with a bad review.
The product was fine. Nobody knew who they were!
Digital PDFs are a business packaged in a box with a bow, and it needs running like one. That means turning up before you sell anything. Talking to people. Posting valuable content, repeatedly, until enough people know what you’re about that a link from you means something.
Nobody buys from a stranger who drops links.
And nobody buys from pressure, or from fake countdown timers on sales pages anymore.
They buy from people they’ve come to trust. That takes weeks, months, even years, not evenings.
